Jefferson Theatre Company to present ‘Chicago’

Jefferson Theatre Company will present the musical “Chicago” at 7 p.m. April 25-27, and 3 p.m. April 27-28 in the Jefferson High School auditorium, 4001 W 102nd St.

The high school edition of the legendary and award-winning musical follows the story of chorus girl Roxie Hart with age-appropriate language and content. Set in roaring twenties Chicago, Roxie nearly convinces her husband to take the rap for her crime but she is ultimately sent to death row. Roxie and fellow inmate Velma Kelly vie for the spotlight and headlines, ultimately joining forces in search of the ‘American Dream’ of fame, fortune and acquittal.

The show features 50 Jefferson students as cast and crew with direction by Laura and Gaby Schmit, music by Jamie Schmidt, choreography by Natalie Schmit, sets by Robin McIntyre and costumes by Laurie Clements. A 12-person student orchestra plays the musical score.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors and students and can be purchased at or at the door one hour prior to each performance.

A senior preview performance will be held at 3:30 p.m. April 24. Tickets for this performance are $5.
