Carleton "Sonny" Carlson
Carlson was a teacher/coach at Kennedy from 1965-1979, and served as the Bloomington Public Schools athletic director from 1979-1993. In addition to teaching history, Carlson worked as assistant football coach from 1960-64 before taking over the head coaching duties for the next 13 years. He also coached the ski team and girls track. He created the Positive Peer Leadership Program to educate students about the dangers of using drugs, which became the model for the MN State High School League and National Federation of State High School Associations programs. Carlson is a 1995 inductee in the MSHSL Hall of Fame.
